Steven Womack was homeless when he came to the Salvation Army. He felt pensive having lost confidence in his ability to make sound decisions. While at the Salvation Army, Steven enrolled in the College of Southern Nevada Culinary Arts program sponsored by The Salvation Army’s Life Skills program. Steve’s caseworker told him it was mandatory to attend PEC Finances Financial Literacy Workshops to learn money management skills. Steven attended this life-changing workshop which helped him understand needs versus wants, develop a budget, acquire and manage a bank account at a local credit union. These lessons gave Steve the ability to take control of his finances and ultimately his life. Steven’s enriching workshop experience prompted him to share his insight with others.
You have the power to change lives today by sponsoring a Financial Literacy Workshop. Sponsorship of 10 or more participants is greatly appreciated; however, a gift of any amount will be equally valued. Moreover, your donation will be acknowledged on our “Donation wall”, and you will receive a tax-donation receipt that you may use at the end of the year to claim a deduction. Check with your tax preparer to see if you qualify.
We also encourage you to become a monthly donor. Your monthly gift provides essential, consistent support to PEC Finances and our network programs which are working every day to help youth and adults get the money management skills they need to make the wise decisions.
Many companies sponsor matching gift programs that will match charitable contributions made by their employees; some even match gifts made by retirees and spouses. These programs are a great way for companies to support financial literacy and a chance for you to double or even triple your original donation! Please check with your company to see if it offers a gift matching program that will match your gift or volunteer hours to the Peciaum Education Center for Finances.
